A 19-year-old Niya Evans has been charged with murder after a shooting inside a McDonald’s in southwest Atlanta on Wednesday left a woman dead.

The city of Atlanta is reeling from a shocking incident at a local McDonald’s, where Tamanika Woods, a mother of four, was fatally shot just days after Christmas. This tragic event has cast a somber shadow over the community, raising serious concerns about the escalation of conflicts.

Officers were called to the restaurant on Ralph David Abernathy Blvd. just before 2:45 p.m. Police said the woman was shot during a fight with another woman that escalated to gunfire. She was taken to the hospital where she was pronounced dead from her injuries.

19-year-old T’Niya Evans, identified as the alleged shooter, was detained at the scene by a witness until the arrival of law enforcement. Evans has been charged with the murder of Woods. According to the arrest warrants obtained by Channel 2 Action News, the incident began as a dispute over food items missing from an order.

Evans, along with her sisters, had reportedly confronted a McDonald’s employee regarding the missing food from their order. Woods, a friend of the employee, intervened in her defense.

During the altercation, one of Evans’ sisters engaged in a physical fight. It was then, according to surveillance footage, that Evans is seen drawing a gun from her waistband, approaching Woods, and firing a single shot.

Currently, Evans is being held without bond in the Fulton County Jail. She faces charges including murder, child cruelty, two counts of aggravated assault, and possession of a firearm. Her court appearance before a Fulton County judge is scheduled for the following week.
