Aimsey had started her career as a child actress in a few “cool British shows” while growing up, including Casualty, Tess of the D'Urbervilles and Torchwood: Children of Earth. Later, as a teenager, she gained popularity on TikTok, on which platform she currently has over 3.7 million fans. She joined Twitch in 2019 and initially streamed under the alias “toadallyaimee” before switching to Aimsey in April 2020 after a hiatus. While creating her Twitch profile, she came up with her online alias, “Aimsey”, after being unable to use one of her childhood nicknames, “Aim Z”. She started out streaming games such as Toontown and Roblox, but later gained popularity for streaming Minecraft, through which she also met most of her friends from the community. Her mother, Sarah, has been very supportive of her and siblings and was even accepting when Aimsey decided to drop out of school and do stuff online. She has an older sister named Chloe who mentioned in an interview that Aimsey is like “a mom” who looks after people, which adds to her charms. She also has a younger sister who has appeared in her pictures and videos on social media. Her grandmother occasionally joins in on her activities. She is known for wearing beanies while streaming, and believes that she talks unusually fast due to ADHD. In April 2022, she mentioned living in Brighton, England.

Aimsey, who identifies herself as a lesbian, mentioned in an interview that she knew from age 11-12 that she liked girls, instead of boys, but kept it to herself because of social stigma. She described her experience of her first kiss with a girl at 16 as “scary”. When she finally came out as a lesbian, her mother’s reaction was that she already knew it. She was also cautious about opening up about her sexually as a content creator due to mental health reasons. She had been in a relationship with fellow streamer Serena, known online as Saladserns, for over two years. Aimsey had been struggling with mental health issues since she was 13 and has been on medication since she was 15. While initially it was about her struggles with her sexuality, she later faced hate as a content creator as well. At one point, her phone number and her address were leaked, forcing her to stop streaming for weeks. She had even considered never coming back online to stream, but eventually realized that the best way to tackle negativity and hate was to ignore trolls or make light of the situation with jokes.
