Before the summer transfer window closes, Barcelona is reportedly going to try to sign Athletic Bilbao defender Inigo Martinez.

According to some rumors, Barcelona has to collect £17 million to reach that goal, either by selling Memphis Depay, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, or other unproven players.

Barcelona has a history of interest in Chelsea left-back Marcos Alonso, but he won’t be signed until the ongoing issues are resolved.

Fichajes claims that Barcelona might still try to sign Martinez from San Mames in the upcoming week despite this.

According to the report, Athletic reportedly turned down a bid around €15 million (£12.7 million) plus €5 million (£4.23 million) to keep the veteran player on staff.
