Pelé married Rosemeri dos Reis Cholbi in 1966.  They had three children: Kelly Cristina (born 13 January 1967), who married Dr. Arthur DeLuca, Jennifer (born 1978), and their son Edson (“Edinho”, b. 27 August 1970). In 1982, the couple divorced.

Edinho was sentenced to 33 years in prison in May 2014 for laundering money from drug trafficking.  The sentence was reduced to 12 years and 10 months after an appeal.
