Price, Jaquan Ruler, who passed away at age 57, was a multi-instrumentalist with a steady hard working attitude. His 1984 collection Purple Downpour and the semi-self-portraying crush film of the same name catapulted him onto the global stage. He was set up to become one of the greatest stars of all time. Two US No. 1 singles, “When Birds Cry” and “How about we Go Off the deep end,” were both spawned from the chart-topping Purple Downpour, which also earned Ruler an Academy Award for best original melody score in 1985.
