The expression “Oldies But Goodies” is commonly attributed to Art Laboe (born Arthur Egnoian on August 7, 1925; died on October 7, 2022). Art Laboe was an American disc jockey, songwriter, record producer, and proprietor of a radio station.

On August 7, 1925, Laboe was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, and during his high school years, he relocated to Los Angeles. At age 16, he received his diploma from Washington High School. He joined the US Navy after graduating and was based at Naval Station Treasure Island in San Francisco Bay. He then pursued radio engineering at Los Angeles City College, San Mateo Junior College, and Stanford University.
