Almost 40 years after the original Ghostbusters (1984) released, Ghostbusters: Afterlife will hit the big screen. Helmed by Oscar nominated director Jason Reitman, the new movie will be a direct sequel to the 1989 Ghostbusters II, as it appears the 2016 gender-swapped reboot, Ghostbusters, will not be canon and exists in their own universe.

Countries covered under the deal are Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria, Moldova, Slovenia, Croatia, Serbia, Montenegro, Bosnia-Herzegovina and North Macedonia. HBO Max replaces HBO Go in the region on March 8.

After a brief theatrical run that began in November 2021, Ghostbusters Afterlife is now available to purchase via a number of digital outlets, like Amazon Prime, Vudu, iTunes, and more. The movie is not yet available to rent, though; you must purchase the title (for $19.99) to be able to watch.

No. Ghostbusters: Afterlife is a Sony movie, not a Warner Bros. movie, and therefore Ghostbusters: Afterlife will not be on HBO Max at the same time it is in theaters. No. Ghostbusters: Afterlife is not on Netflix. While Netflix has signed some deals to stream some 2022 Sony films, Ghostbusters: Afterlife is a 2021 movie and will likely not be included in that. Therefore, it’s unlikely that Ghostbusters will be streaming on Netflix any time soon.

Is Ghostbusters: Afterlife streaming on HBO Max?

Unfortunately, no. With the film being a Sony property, and Sony staying out of the “streaming war” for now, it is unlikely that this film will end up on a streaming service any time soon. If and when it does, it won’t be HBO Max.

Surprisingly, if the movie does go to streaming, Netflix would be the most likely landing spot, since that is the service Sony works most closely with. So it’ll either be Netflix or Starz (this may include Hulu due to its add-on deal with Starz. But this won’t happen until around May 2022 to August 2022, according to Decider.
