Karly-Marina Loaiza, also known professionally as Kali Uchis, was born in the United States on July 17, 1994.

Her first mixtape, Drunken Babble, was published in 2012; it was followed by her debut EP, Para Vida, which was released in 2015.

Isolation, Uchis’ first studio album, was released in 2018 to great acclaim. In 2020, Uchis released Sin Miedo (del Amor y Otros Demonios), her second studio album and her first to be published in Spanish.

The track “Telepata,” which was taken from the album, became Uchis’ first solo hit to reach the US Billboard Hot 100 chart. Her appearance on Kaytranada’s tune “10%” earned her a Grammy Award for Best Dance Recording.

She also composed music, songs, and poems, but she had no intention of singing at first since she preferred to be behind the camera versus being in the spotlight. Her father gave her the moniker “Kali Uchis.”
