In 2022, Lamis was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer, a diagnosis that shook her and her loved ones to the core. Despite the many treatments she underwent, Lamis faced the unforgiving nature of this disease with unwavering strength and resilience. She was determined to fight, but, sadly, cancer had other plans.

On September 4, 2023, Lamis Harp peacefully passed away, surrounded by her family and friends who had stood by her side throughout her journey. Lamis was not just a medical student; she was a symbol of hope, courage, and the indomitable spirit of the human will.

Cancer is a formidable adversary that affects countless lives across the globe. It presents itself in various forms, each posing unique challenges to those who confront it. The battle against cancer is an arduous one, with outcomes influenced by a multitude of factors, including the type and stage of cancer, treatment options, patient health, and genetics.

In our collective effort to combat this relentless foe, institutions like the Dearborn Center for Cancer Care, an integral part of the Beaumont Health system, lead the way. They tirelessly work to discover new methods of prevention, diagnosis, and treatment. Their comprehensive services, including radiation therapy, chemotherapy, immunotherapy, surgery, clinical trials, palliative care, and support groups, stand as a beacon of hope for those in the fight against cancer.
