The Harry Potter franchise continues to overwhelm all other conversations in the fantasy sphere as reactions to HBO’s fresh attempt at J.K. Rowling’s book series refuse to die down.

It’s not just the Harry Potter series that’s rankling fans, either. News of Warner Bros.’ intent to also produce a new Wizarding World video game is likewise prompting criticism, as people decry the decision to enrich Rowling — a known transphobe — even more. That’s not even to mention that the game in question — shaped around Quidditch — leans on a feature that really should have been included in the last Harry Potter game: Hogwarts Legacy. It seems that Warner Bros. may have thoroughly lost touch with what the diminishing Harry Potter fandom wants, and that’s bad news for remaining fans as they look ahead to a slew of fresh attempts to bring the Wizarding World back to prominence. 

Despite broad pushback and the overarching sentiment that a reboot of Harry Potter is deeply unnecessary, some fans already have their sights set on a few dream castings. It’s hard to imagine anyone but Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint in the three primary roles, but fans already have a part picked out for none other than Reba McEntire.

The announcement of a Quidditch game divides fans 

Harry Potter appears to be a major priority for Warner Bros. at the moment as the company prepares to re-saturate the market with a fresh wave of Wizarding World content. The Harry Potter show is old news, by this point, but fans are still reacting to reports that a Quidditch game, titled Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions, is also headed to shelves.

Warner Bros. doesn’t seem to care about much other than money at this point, if its approach to the Harry Potter franchise is any indication. The entertainment giant is already pouring money into a completely unnecessary Harry Potter reboot, and news that it is additionally developing a Quidditch game isn’t helping fan opinions. Many gamers feel as though the sport should have simply been included in Hogwarts Legacy, which released earlier this year, rather than attempt to leech even more cash from the fanbase with an entirely different — and likely pricey — game.

People are already fancasting Reba McEntire into the new Harry Potter show

The cast of Max’s eventual Harry Potter reboot is in for some rough comparisons once they’re announced, as they’re inevitably weighed against the beloved existing lineup. One immortal star is unlikely to face much of any criticism if she’s cast into the series, however, and fans already know who they want her to play — and it’s probably not who you’d expect. Reba McEntire is certainly talented, and we think she’d pull off a character like Molly Weasley wonderfully, but an online joke now has fans placing her in a much more surprising role.
