Higgins is a big fan of going outside, and documents a lot of her trips on social media. Higgins is often seen on Instagram enjoying the beach and going on hikes in parks.
In an interview with the DailyMail, Higgins revealed that she lost a dangerous amount of weight from extreme exercise and dieting during lockdown. "With the exercise, it's very easy to get obsessed with it. It got to a stage where it was actually affecting my periods; I lost my period for four months," she reveals. Higgins says that she is working on embracing her body and is "feeling so much better" now.
Higgins tells the DailyMail that her family and friends are extremely supportive, and helped her get through her period of insecurity. "It's good to have people around you that are not afraid to say these things to you. It's so important. I'm feeling so much better."
Higgins is embracing her body, which includes her grey hair. She tells the DailyMail, "I put on Instagram a picture of my grey hairs and honestly the amount of messages I got from younger girls, girls in their early 20s saying "oh my God, thank you so much for this, I've never shown anyone my grey hair, I keep it a secret but now I feel like I'm going to embrace it and not be afraid." Higgins also says that this has been an insecurity she's had for a while, and is something that she's recently starting to embrace. "My hair went grey when I was 18. I'm so used to it now, 18 feels like a long time ago. I don't know why it happened, maybe I'm old on the inside! I just said to mammy 'Why has this happened? Why do I get the bad genes?' She said to me 'Well it's not from me because I didn't have grey hair at 18!'"
After her successful stint on Love Island, Higgins was asked to participate in the British competition series, Dancing on Ice. The show is like Strictly Come Dancing, but with ice skating instead of ballroom dancing. Higgins was partnered with skater Alexander Demetriou, and the pari lasted six weeks on the series.
