Novak Djokovic advanced to the quarterfinals of the Serbia Open with a convincing victory over compatriot Laslo Djere on Wednesday(April 22). Djokovic lost the first set in a tame fashion in their first meeting but recovered to win the next two in nail-biting tie-breaks.

Laslo Djere, a 23-year-old Serbian, was an underdog at the Rio Open. He won the tournament and his first ATP Tour title in (2019).

Laslo’s victory speech at the time had many people in tears. He dedicated the trophy to his parents in front of the Rio crowd after defeating Canada’s Felix Auger-Aliassime in the finals.
