Montserrat Caballé, who died at the age of 85, was a throwback to a bygone era of divas and one of the most exhilarating voices on the opera stage in the final four decades of the 20th century.

Montserrat was confident and unrivaled in vocal reverberation and bel canto style, which she used with Freddie Mercury in an Olympic song for her native Barcelona.

In an instant, she soared to international stardom. Her obvious beauty and natural singing style as the Donizettian heroine grabbed everyone’s heart.

Her singing repertoire included everything from classical to modern Spanish music. She is in the headlines because of her musical prowess in the past.

She married was to Late musician Bernabé Mart. They were blessed with two children. Bernabé Mart Jr. and Montserrat Mart.
