John was a window cleaner in Norwich. She has a younger sister named Esther.Vardy was 11 when her parents divorced. She did not accept her mother’s marriage to Ian Nicolson, a radio presenter. Vardy lived with her mother and Ian in Oxfordshire. Growing up in such a dysfunctional family, Vardy became a troubled and quarrelsome teenager at school. She even started drinking. Hence, she was forced to leave the family home at 16.Vardy initially worked in bars. In a recent interview, she revealed that she had been sexually abused by a family friend since the age of 11 years.At the age of 18 years, Vardy married electrician Mark Godden in Mexico.
