She got married to her high school sweetheart Cory, in 2002. She gave birth to her first child, Kesley Jade, in 2003. In April 2006, Shanna gave birth to her son, Logan Thomas LeRoy, but the joy of birth soon turned into immense sorrow when Shanna found out about Logan’s congenital heart disease; he was only 4-months-old at the time of diagnosis. The LeRoys were informed by the doctors of Logan’s short life expectancy. On December 29, 2006, their 8-months-old boy passed away. The time that Logan spent with his parents is well documented. Shanna drew inspiration from her loss and says she wanted to comfort other mothers and families in coping up with the loss of a child by sharing her story.
