Rapper NLE Choppa, also known as YNR Choppa, hails from Memphis, Tennessee. He was born Bryson Lashun Potts on November 1, 2002.

He rose to fame with his 2019 single “Shotta Flow,” which was certified platinum by the RIAA and peaked at number 40 on the Billboard Hot 100. His first EP, Cottonwood, was also published in 2019.

His parents were an African American father and a Jamaican mother. He was raised in Southeast Memphis, Tennessee’s Parkway Village community, and went to Cordova High School, where he played basketball.
