Quentin Jerome Tarantino (born March 27, 1963) is a film critic, author, and actor from the United States. His films are distinguished by frequent allusions to popular culture and film genres, non-linear plots, dark humor, stylized violence, extended dialogue, frequent use of profanity, cameos, and ensemble casts. Other stylistic elements of his work include the use of songs from the 1960s and 1970s, fictional brand parodies, and imagery of women’s bare feet. Tarantino worked a variety of jobs throughout the 1980s. He worked as an usher at the Pussycat Theater, an adult movie theater in Torrance, after lying about his age. He worked as a recruiter in the aerospace industry and at Video Archives, a video store in Manhattan Beach, California, for five years.
